Chinese Smashed Cucumber Salad

This Chinese smashed cucumber salad combines crisp cucumber with garlic, black vinegar and a spicy dressing that delivers the perfect balance of freshness, tanginess and heat.

Finished with Sim Sim Food Studio Signature Chilli Oil, this classic-style cucumber dish is simple to prepare and works beautifully as a light appetiser or cooling side.

How to Make Chinese Smashed Cucumber Salad

1. Prepare the cucumber: Cut the cucumber into large chunks. Place the cucumber into a zip-lock bag and gently smash using a rolling pin or heavy object until slightly broken and uneven. Place the smashed cucumber into a mixing bowl.

2. Make the dressing:  Add garlic, chopped coriander, black vinegar, fish sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and a spoonful of Chilli Oil.

3. Toss and serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Mix everything well until evenly coated in the dressing. Serve immediately.
